Success! Historical Commission approval.

We have negotiated our first step of the renovation project: approval from the Historical Commission to renovate the house. The town justifiably is concerned about the loss of its historic architecture and character, so older homes need to go through an historic review before undergoing external modifications. The Commission recognized our desire to preserve the original house and design an addition sympathetic to the home’s vernacular farmhouse style, while introducing state-of-the-art building systems to make it healthy and efficient. They determined that the proposed work would improve the appearance of the block and that our plans were appropriate and sensitive expansions of the home. We appreciate their assistance and input in helping us design a modern home in an historic structure.
